13 o'clock

At the beginning of George Orwell's 1984 it opens with the line,
It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.

Today I read from the Telegraph about a village clock that has started striking 13 here

and just a month ago in London this

  1. Hi Vileveil. You got me thinking about the number 13 now. In the Major Arcana it symbolizes the Black Knight riding in to stir things up in the form of the Death Tarot card. I see the Death card as way of representing change, and that's certaintly happening here in the UK. The old must fall away to make way for the new and I see these 13 synchronicities as a positive sign for things to come in Britain. The Black Knight (Black Star) might be scary in some peoples eyes, but if you've been checking out my blog then you probably know that I've got something of a soft spot for him.
Nice to see you've got some (PP) Pablo Picasso artwork on your blog!
Look forward to seeing what else you notice.
    cheers
    Richard

  2. Indeed, 13 is a very interesting number. Yesterday was Friday the 13th and I can honestly say this has never been unlucky for me. I guess it was for DeMolay and the Templars tho!

I don't know much about Tarot but I do agree about Death = change and being a positive thing. I guess it's only scary if you are frightened of change and are clinging on to old
    patterns and habits.

Thanks for your comments and stopping by!
    All the best
